MISA is pleased to share that our President, Marily Frangista, has been featured in the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA) “Shipping People” interview series ( published in November 2024).

In the interview, Ms Frangista reflects on the evolving landscape of European and global shipping — from the industry’s path to decarbonisation to the growing importance of digitalisation and skills development. She highlights the need for coordinated EU policies that support shipowners of all sizes, including SMEs, and stresses the importance of accessible alternative fuels, a level playing field, and long-term investment in maritime people.

Ms Frangista also discusses good practices pursued within her own company, including steps toward adopting cleaner fuels, implementing energy-saving technologies, and strengthening ESG strategies. These themes closely align with MISA’s priorities for 2025, particularly in the context of Malta’s role within the EU and IMO, and the sector’s transition toward net-zero.

MISA congratulates Ms Frangista for this recognition and for her ongoing contribution to advancing the interests of shipowners at national, European, and international levels.
